New Damascus Room, 2024

AN ARCHITECTURE PRACTICE WHICH REJECTS THE STANDARDIZATION OF BUILDING AND INSTEAD, VIEWS EACH BUILDING AS AN OBJECT TO INHABIT. TAKING AS ITS DEPARTURE HISTORICAL PRINCIPLES, REGURGITATING THEM WITH NEW MATERIALS, AESTHETICS, ATMOSPHERES. THE GOAL OF SHELTER IS A BUNKER; INSULATED FROM THE WORLD. A QUIET AND DISCREET LANGUAGE WHICH DOES NOT SHY AWAY FROM DARKNESS. THERE IS TOO MUCH SUN, AS THE OZONE LAYER DISSIPATES. BUILDINGS WHICH CAN HARNESS, NOT BE DOMINATED BY, SOLAR HEAT AND LIGHT. SINGLE-STREAM MATERIALS—STONE, WOOD, LIME—CAN THERE BE A RETURN TO SIMPLICITY? A RETURN TO ARCHITECTURE WITH FEELING? ARCHAISM AND PROTECTION, IDEAL PROPORTIONS AND UNEXPECTED RELATIONS.
